employees. Why are they not paying taxes and burden (Pension and

operating capital until they get paid. Staffing agencies have the
means to "front" this capital to the contractor until the
company is able to pay. Independent contractors are usually savvy
enough to want to get paid regularly or they go elsewhere.

The issue of project work. Hire employees for long term
work and hire contractors for filling in on short bursts of work. If
you, as a company, need someone only for a period of time and after
that, might not require someone on the team, a contractor is the
best choice. The expense may be 70-120% more over the same period,
but it's less expensive than having an employee full time, year
after year. Do the math on this though to consider which option is
best for you based on market rates for both employees vs.
contractors. Keep in mind letting an employee go after 6 months
isn't really an ethical option.

How do you determine which staffing agencies to work with when they reach out to you for the same contract position simultaneously?
Make sure they have experience and past success with the exact position you are sourcing for. Most staffing agencies will mislead you & tell you that they have experience. For instance, they might be an IT staffing agency but might never have filled a SAP BI contract position before. Yet they will tell you that they handle all types of contract positions.
So make sure you get clarity on their experience.
(I know this as a fact since I have worked for couple of staffing agencies. Their goal is to say anything so they can get the job order or requirement from the client).
I also suggest you work with multiple agencies. Let them compete for your business. And let them know in advance that you are working with multiple agencies. This will make them work harder for your requisition.
